PAINTING > AN IMAGE OF THE CITY

I received the C Farrell Grant for my final quarter at CWU. For the project, I studied the historical architecture of Ellensburg.

This work is an investigation of relationship between humans and architectural spaces. By occupying a space, we are able to form a connection between the past and present. Architecture can retain elements of history while existing in the present. Throughout our lives, we construct buildings to suit our needs, and then create purpose and meaning within the spaces. Each space has its own symbolic value, and a variable psychic dimension depending on the inhabitant of the space. Within one space, multiple psychological spaces may exist at the same time. My objective is to represent the merging of past culture and present identity that occurs through daily interaction
